A collegue of mine, a native english speaker, mentioned a few days ago, that the big difference between german and english is that the english language seems to devlop as like "Oh, there is a new thing, we need a word. Let's check which foreign language has an appropriate one" while german insists on "This is our language, keep away the strangers!" :-)
